Warhorse Training Supports a Trauma-Informed Swindon

“Proud to Be Recognised as a Community Partner”

Warhorse Training welcomes the conversation surrounding the proposed Towards a Trauma-Informed Swindon motion, recognising the importance of understanding trauma, supporting emotional regulation and building stronger connections between services and community organisations.

Established in Swindon in 2015, Warhorse Training brings years of practical frontline experience supporting children and adults through individualised training and wellbeing approaches.

Warhorse Training is proud to be recognised as a community partner in the conversation around Trauma-Informed Swindon. We welcome the opportunity to contribute our practical experience, share perspectives from our frontline work and explore how community organisations can work alongside professionals and services to help build a more connected, compassionate and trauma-informed Swindon.

Our work includes Child Frustration Intervention Training (CFIT) and Adult Frustration Intervention Training (AFIT), developed around helping individuals recognise frustration, communicate their needs and develop safer, more effective ways of managing difficult emotions and situations.

Our primary focus is on supporting children through CFIT, recognising that early experiences can influence how people manage emotions, relationships and challenges as they grow into adulthood. Through AFIT, we extend related principles into adulthood, recognising that people may need understanding and support at different stages of life.

We believe that understanding a person requires looking beyond their presenting behaviour and considering their individual experiences, circumstances and support needs.

Warhorse Training does not claim to have all the answers or replace specialist services. We believe that community organisations, professionals and people with lived experience all have valuable perspectives to contribute. By sharing knowledge, listening to others and recognising when additional specialist support is needed, we can help contribute to a more joined-up approach.

We welcome opportunities to share experience, learn from others and explore how Warhorse Training can contribute to the wider ambition for Trauma-Informed Swindon.

This is an important conversation, and we look forward to seeing how it develops. We'll keep people updated as the next steps unfold, so watch this space as we explore what the future may hold for Warhorse Training and the wider Swindon community.

Our belief is simple:

The Warhorse Way

People don't need to fit the system.
The system needs to understand the person.
